

Mr. Kwang P. Tak, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 in San Antonio. Mr. Tak was born in 1929 as third son of ChangYeu Tak and BokSoon Lee in Korea where he served in the South Korean Air Force during the Korean War. After graduating from Dong-Kuk University with Law degree, working as the Director of Export for his brother's Handcraft and Brass Exporting business out of Korea, Mr. Tak worked at most every World's Fair beginning in the earlier 1960's introducing Korea's Brassware products and various other products from Korea to the area. His dedication and hard work at these Expos caused his products to be sold out before the end of the Fair each year. He was also responsible for attending various other state fairs and networking with businesses throughout the country to bring his products to their stores. In 1968, Mr. Tak attended the Hemisfair World Expo in San Antonio and has made it his family's home ever since.
A loving, caring and soft hearted person, Mr. Tak was a very hard working person and, in addition to his love of golf, he was very dedicated to the Korean community having served on various boards and many capacities. He was a member of the board and seven-time President for the Korean American Association of San Antonio; served as a board member and various chair positions with the San Antonio Korea School. He also served as the Texas Representative for the Unified Korea Association for South Korean government.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters. Mr. Tak is survived by his wife, Samyoon Tak; daughter and son-in-law, Jungran "Jane" and Beekay Lim; three sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Yoomi Tak, Ben Tak and Susan Kwon, and Steven and Yookyung Tak; 10 Grandchildren: Suejean Lim, Shawn Lim, Sherry Lim, Daniel Tak, David Tak, Richard Tak, Samuel Tak, Thena Tak, Jonathan Tak and Joseph Tak. He is also survived by two sisters, Soonja Tak and Soonoak Tak. The family will receive friends at Porter Loring North on Saturday October 31, 2015 from 4:45 to 6:30 pm.
