Lawrence, who was affectionately known to everyone as Larry, attended Christ the King Catholic School as a child. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1980 and continued his education at The University of Texas at San Antonio, where he graduated in 1996 with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. Larry was born and raised on the West Side of San Antonio. He served his community when he started working at the Bexar County Adult Probation Department in 1990. Over the years he worked in a variety of roles, from security officer to manager of the department’s on-site drug testing facility. He later became the Director of the MIOF, (Mentally Impaired Offenders Facility). He eventually returned to what he loved most, being a Probation Officer and Manager at the department’s West 5 location. Larry was very proud that he worked his way up to the top of the department and after 30 years of service, retired in 2020. During his time away from work, Larry loved softball, reading, everything historical, Star Trek, Godzilla, Steely Dan, Star Wars, a good cigar, working on his Jeep, and hosting BBQs for his family. He had a quick wit, and no one could get anything past him. He would joke that he knew more useless information than anyone else yet couldn’t remember where he left his keys. Larry was everyone’s “Go To” person. There wasn’t anything he didn’t know the answer to. Larry was loved dearly by his friends and family. He was a wonderful son, brother, uncle and friend, but most of all he was an awesome father and husband. He will be greatly missed by everyone.
