

Mr. Lary Glen Blankley, a cherished and esteemed member of the community, passed away on April 29, 2024, at the age of 80. Lary left this world in San Antonio, Texas, carrying with him the love and memories of a life lived with purpose and kindness. He was born on July 1, 1943, in Toledo, Ohio, to his late parents, Wilbur and Elaine Blankley.
Lary met the love of his life, Linda in their hometown of Toledo. Lary and Linda attended school together and were married in 1964, in their home church Ashland Avenue Baptist Church.
He was a proud graduate of Scott High School in Toledo, where he began to shape his future and laid the foundations for a successful career. He went on to make his mark in the field of graphic art sales, where his creative vision and personable nature earned him the respect and friendship of both colleagues and clients alike.
His professional achievements, however, were only a part of the legacy Lary left behind. He was a pillar of the community, known for his unwavering dedication to service. As a longtime member of the Ashland Avenue Baptist Church, Lary's faith-filled presence was a source of comfort and inspiration to many.
Lary's passion for mentorship was evident through his extensive involvement in youth programs. He served as a Youth Soccer Coach, imparting not only the skills of the game but also the values of teamwork and perseverance to his players. His leadership extended to the Boy Scouts, where he was a respected Scout Leader for troops in both Toledo and Chicago. Under his guidance, countless young individuals learned the importance of character, the outdoors, and community service. Lary led many canoe trips for the boy scouts, as well as his friends.
In addition to his volunteer work, Lary was a past member of the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, where he contributed his thoughtful insights and loving nature to the growth and betterment of the local business community. His efforts helped to foster a spirit of cooperation and progress that benefited many.
Lary was preceded in death by his parents; and grandmother, Ethyl Mocherman. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Linda; son, Marc Scot Blankley (Wendy); grandson, Marcos Blankley; sister, Thea Keshavarzi; numerous other loving relatives; and his beloved dog, Ginger.
