

Lauro was born on October 19, 1948 in Laredo, Texas to Eduardo and Angela M. Ruiz.
After graduating from Martin High School, he proudly joined the Marine Corps, fought in Vietnam, and served until he was honorably medically discharged due to a leg injury. Lauro worked for the Post Office as a clerk for the next 37 years.
He attended OLLU and was a member of the St. Helena's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
Lauro was very honored of being a Marine but was most proud of being a husband and father.
He will always be known for his sense of humor and great love for his family.
Lauro is preceded in death by his parents; son, Anthony "Tony" Richard Ruiz; aunt, Maria Moreno and two brothers, Eduardo C. and Roberto V. Ruiz.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Rosantina Ruiz; daughter, Rosanna Marie Ruiz; son, Lauro E. Ruiz; brothers, Raul (Angie), Armando (Irene); sisters, Esther (George) Moreida, Margie (JJ) Torres; sister in laws, brother in laws, numerous nieces, nephews and his dog, Bandit.
The Ruiz family would like to express their appreciation to the Dr's and staff at SAMMC for all their dedication and care.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 7, 2014 at Porter Loring North.
