I first met Leah when we moved back to Alabama. She was my Bishop's wife and my relief society president. She was a very gracious hostess and a good friend. We worked together to play for and direct a music production for our stake. We also spent many family home evenings together. We studied together but we also liked to play rook. Leah had the most beautiful complexion which I envied. We both had eventually moved to Utah for a mission and also to live so we saw each other several times. She will be greatly missed. My favorite memory of Leah is her strong yet kind guidance of me as a new convert to the Church. She was a constant guiding star for the many years of our friendship. I miss her.

I am so happy to have known Leah and served with her as visiting teaching partners for a while in Huntsville. She is one of the truest saints I have known, in every sense of the word. She is such a wonderful example to us all and always so cheerful and happy. I have missed her since her move from Alabama but look forward to seeing her again one day. God bless her wonderful husband, Gene, another spiritual giant!

George and Mavis are lifelong friends of Leah Mae and Eugene. Mavis and Leah were in grade school together in Ely and she was in George and Mavis' high school class. George knew Eugene in McGill. I am so sorry to read about Leah's passing. I remember all the good times we had in Ely. I got to wear all of her and Carol's long gowns to Rainbow Girls. The whole family are very special people and great neighbors.

I will always remember how welcome I always felt around the Tidwells. When I first met them my family and I had just moved to Huntsville from Utah, we did not know anyone in Huntsville. Gene and Leah invited us over for Thanksgiving. They were always like family to us. I have thought of both of them often.

I finally got moved back to Utah and tried to get in touch with you and found out you had moved to TX. I was so disappointed. I am so sorry to hear about Leah. She was a great lady. To tell about one memory of Leah is hard. Gene and Leah were like parents to me and my family when we moved to Huntsville. Leah was my visiting techer from the time I moved to Huntsville until she and Gene moved to UT. Her patience with me when I tried to learn to play piano. The time she invited me to quilt and because of my non-abilities didn't invite me again. She was always there to lend a helping hand. I would have been lost if it had not been for Gene and Leah. The name of our Leah Irene Moffitt was chosen because of the great respect we held for Leah Tidwell. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I rejoice with you in the sureness of the resurrection and promise of life eternal.

We lived in Tullahoma TN for eleven years and have many happy memories of shared times with the Tidwells. Leah's home reflected her favorite color turquoise carpet, walls, drapes. Her musical talent added beauty to our small Tullahoma Branch. She laughed when someone called her violin a fiddle. Whenever we needed to fill a calling in the branch, Leah prayed someone to move in. One time when Leah and Cathy were visiting teaching, she was inspired to suggest we visit a sister who we didn't have an appointment with. When we arrived we found the woman needed to be taken to the hospital where she later died. It was a happy surprise many years later to unexpectedly see Leah and Gene in the SLC genealogical library when they were serving their Family History mission. Leah will be greatly missed, but her family is a wonderful legacy,

I am sad to hear or Leah's passing. What an awesome celebration of life you must have had at her funeral....which I call a Gradualtion ceremony! She must have learned all she needed too and ready for her next phase of her life! What a legacy she must have with all those grandchildren and great- grandchildren! My favorite memories of childhood were at the Tidwell home in Tullahoma, TN. I was always over there. I remember Leah always had something homemade and delicious to eat! Leah was always canning. I remember once I was at her home and one of her kids put a hot glass bottle in cool water and it exploded - fruit and all! But I don't remember Leah getting upset by it! Also, If she wasn't playing the piano, one of her talented children were! Thank goodness for the wonderful talents of Leah....if it wasn't for her...our little Tullahoma Branch wouldn't have had any director or pianist or musical numbers! Those Tidwell kids were just like the Osmonds back then! But because of Leah, the Tidwell kids turned out a lot better as adults than some of those Osmonds! I also remember whenever we would get a good snowfall, everyone would be out in her big side yard playing football and Leah would have warm cocoa for us all when we would return soaking wet into her home! I just want to thank the Tidwell family for shaing their loving mother with me! Nothing will ever be as sweet as those childhood/ teenage years with your family in Tullahoma! Dear Gene: Tullahoma, Tennessee - 1960's 
What wonderful memories come flooding back as we think of the times our families enjoyed each other in this small town. I remember the many nights after Leah and I would come back from attending a church preparation meeting and sit in the car in the driveway just talking about family, the church, the children in Primary and getting to know each other better. Unaware of the time, we never thought that our husbands were worried about where we were until a porch light would go on or a drape pulled back and one of them looking out the window to see where we were. I remember Leah trying to teach Kirk and me how to play the piano. Things could have been good but Uncle Sam decided that our family needed to go to Japan and that was the end of the lessons. The Thanksgiving Dinners and summer barbeque's and the times we spent at the lake. The time we left Bruce playing in the sand as we drove away, thinking all of the children were in the cars, that was scary then, but brings a smile now. The years have separated us since the 1960's and Leah has left us physically, but she will always be in our thoughts and memories. Leah was such a special, calm, spiritual person and we have been blessed for knowing her. Our love and prayers go out to you and the family. Love,

When my husband, George, and I relocated our family in Huntsville Alabama Gene and Leah became our dear friends, adopted parents if you will. George became Gene's counselor in the bishopric of our ward. We were invited many times to their home for dinner or games. When George was diagnosed with colon cancer I went to their home to tell them of the bad news. We all cried. Before my mother could come from Utah he had surgery and Leah was their with me. I was afraid and she gave me hugs and tender words that calmed my worries. Two or so years later it was Gene and Leah at our home right after he passed away. I'll always be grateful for their kindness and love. I'm so grateful for that our paths interlaced with such wonderful people.

I had the privilege of teaching Sister Tidwell's youngest daughter, Marietta. Through Marietta I know what a wonderful, devoted mother Leah was and how completely she devoted her life to serving not only her family but all of her Heavenly Father's children. Dear Tidwell family, Sister Tidwell has been a true example of celestial living. Our family loved her warm greetings and big smile every time we met her. As Yolanda's visiting teacher, she was dedicated and loving. One time she came to our home, dragging her feet soon after surgery, to uplift Yolanda with one of her well-prepared lessons. She would ask Yolanda "if there was any thing she could do for her," while she was holding on to her cane. Regarding Sister Tidwell, we always commented, "She is an angel and so is her hasband". Memories of Leah Tidwell 
From Karen and Harold Romero We consider Leah and Gene to be some of our closest friends. When we moved to Huntsville, Alabama they took us under their wings, and many a midnight we were still up playing Rook with them. We only lived a few blocks away, and we were frequent visitors at each other?s homes for dinner as well as socializing. Leah was an excellent cook and even gave us a copy of ?Lumpy Dick,? the Tidwell Cookbook. Leah was a good friend to Karen when she was suffering the pains of cancer and its treatments. Leah would take time out of her busy day to come sit with Karen, give her moral support, and read to her. In fact Leah loved to read, and was quite knowledgeable about many subjects. Leah was also a devoted daughter. She and Gene cared for Leah?s mother Marietta Call who lived with them for many years. Late one night our telephone rang and Sister Call said ?I?m so glad I can call you with just one number! Leah had programmed our number on her speed dial. I can?t get hold of Leah! I called and called but she doesn?t answer.? Leah and Gene were sleeping in the next room, so Karen called and told Leah her mom needed her. We all had a good laugh about that. Both Leah and Gene are very enjoyable to be around. We took one long trip with them that we enjoyed very much. We attended the Hill Cumorah Pageant, visited other LDS Church sites, and even stopped in New York City to visit Parley and Velma Howell, where Parley was serving as Mission President. We feel very blessed by Leah and Gene?s special friendship.

We can't speak of Leah without speaking of Gene. They were truly our mentors, examples of true, loving leaders and solid in their friendship. We admired and emulated them as we watched them raise their wonderful family. We admired the work ethic and virtues that they instilled in their children. Bob and I travelled many miles with the Tidwells throughout the Tullahoma Tennessee District and learned so much from being with them. Leah and Gene are spiritual giants. Leah's strength, talents and wisdom helped us navigate through interesting growing experiences in the District Relief Society Presidency as she served as my Education Counselor. We remember fondly our Sundays spent together especially the General Conference Sundays and being able to watch conference in our home in McMinnville. That is when we said that Cable TV was a true blessing to us all! We vividly recall when Gene was called as Chattanooga Stake Patriarch. Both Leah and he were trembling with the weight of that call. Years later we were able to understand that trembling ourselves as Bob was sustained as Patriarch. 
Leah's soft spoken, humble way will always be remembered by us and we never hear the hymns that we don't think of Leah and the lives she blessed with her musical talents. Leah was a force for good and lived a life to emulate.

I was in the same ward as Leah in Huntsville Alabama where I got to know and love her and am very saddened by her passing.

We have many fond memories of Leah. She was there by our side when Howard had open heart surgery. 
Leah and I shared a love for books. It wasn't unusual for her to have at least two books out that she was reading. She introduced me to many good authors. 
We bought the Tidwell's home when they left for their mission at the Family History Center in Salt Lake City. 
There are countless memories that we'll hold in our hearts for this dear, sweet friend.

So sorry to hear of your mother?s passing. She was indeed a wonderful lady, and I?ll forever hold fond memories of being in your home and feeling her love as I attended piano lessons, received my Patriarchal Blessing, and spent time with your family. One especially sweet memory was the time I went to your home to pass off my Music merit badge. I was nervous going into it, but she immediately put me at ease and so kindly worked with me to help me pass it off. May you receive comfort during this time from knowing how much she was loved and admired, and in knowing that her legacy lives on through so many that she touched for good.
