He was preceded in death by his son, Leo Benavides, Jr. who lived in Ft. Worth, Texas and by his wife, Mary Tafolla Benavides.
Survived by son, Rick Benavides; two granddaughters, Kacie and Nicole Benavides all of Houston, TX; two grandsons, Monte and Chris Benavides; daughter-in-law, Kay Benavides and her children, Kelly and Kyle Loftus of Ft. Worth, TX.
He served with the Amphibious Force of the US Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. He retired from the US Postal Service after 32 years of service. Member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, BPO Elks Lodge #216 and the National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 421.
He enjoyed bowling and playing golf.
