Leopoldo R. Flores, Jr.

Dr. Leopoldo R. Flores, affectionately known as Leo, passed away in his home on August 26, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family. Leo leaves behind a legacy of service to his community as a practicing dentist of 37 years.

Born on February 7, 1954, in Corpus Christi, Texas, Leo was raised in Agua Dulce, Texas where he graduated high school in 1972. His life journey took him from his small hometown to the esteemed halls of the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a degree in Pharmacy in 1976. His thirst for knowledge led him further down the path of education, culminating in a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 1987.

Dr. Flores dedicated himself to the practice of general dentistry in San Antonio, Texas. His friendly demeanor and intelligent approach to care won him the respect and affection of his patients and colleagues alike. Leo’s involvement with the dental community extended beyond his practice, as he actively participated in various associations, always striving to enhance the profession he loved.

Beyond his professional life, Leo was a man who cherished the simple pleasures. He found solace and joy in playing golf, a game that mirrored his precision and patience. Fishing trips and beach outings were among his favorite ways to unwind, always relishing the opportunity to be surrounded by nature’s beauty. But above all, Leo was a family man. His beloved wife, Emilia, was his steadfast partner during 48 years of marriage. His oldest son, Michael, preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughter Anna Rodriguez, and son, David; as well as his grandchildren Michael and Eliana Flores, Jesse and Lily Rodriguez, and Rayan and Zain Flores.

Dr. Flores was a man who not only healed with his hands but also touched the hearts of those around him with his compassion and humanity. May Leo’s legacy be remembered by his family, friends, and the countless lives he improved through his work.

The family will receive guests from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Porter Loring Mortuary West.
