Leorene “Lee” Vasquez, passed away peacefully at home with her family at her side on Thursday, September 15, 2011. She was born on January 30, 1943 in Detroit, Michigan to Leo and Margaret Stanton. Lee was married for almost 51 years to her childhood sweetheart, Santiago (Jim). She is survived by her husband, Santiago “Jim” Vasquez; sons, James M. Vasquez and wife Debbie, Gregory L. Vasquez, Joseph T. Vasquez and wife Diane; grandchildren, Nicholas, Karly, Isabella, Jacob, Leah and Sophia. A memorial rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. Sunday, September 18, 2011 at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home on Bandera Road. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Monday, September 19, 2011 at St. Brigid Catholic Church, 9607 Kitchener. The family would like to express thanks to sister-in-law, Sylvia Rodriguez, nieces, Linda and April Burgos, friends, Donna and Dave Guzman, as well as Dr. James Wilder and his staff for their compassion and care of Lee. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
