

He was born on January 4, 1935, to the late Melvin and Celia Campbell in Oakland, Maine, and died at the age of 70 in Converse, Texas.
He is survived by his son, Jeffrey L. Campbell and his wife Debbra, and daughter Julie A.Campbell-Aldaz and her husband Omar; four grandchildren, Michael, Jonathan, Katherine and Sophia Isabella; former wife Janet Campbell-Persyn; sisters Eardine King and her husband David of Oakland, Maine, and Harriet Mansir and her husband Richard of Randolph, Maine; and several nieces and nephews.
Leslie had 46 years of service to the United States Government. He spent 21 years in the U.S. Air Force, including assisting in bringing home POW's after the Vietnam War and Biomedical Maintenance before retiring in 1975. He had 25 years of service to the Veterans Administration hospitals in San Antonio, Corpus Christi and McAllen where he was a Biomedical Engineering Technician. He retired from the VA in December, 2000. He held an Associate's Degree in Applied Science from St. Philip's College in San Antonio that he earned in December, 1983. During his military service he received numerous accolades including the Air Force Commendation Medal. These acknowledgements continued during his career with the Veterans Administration where he received many outstanding service awards and was recognized as one of the top Biomedical Maintenance Technicians in the country. He was also a lifetime member of the Scottish Rite and a 32nd degree Mason.
Leslie had a great love of sports, enjoyed playing poker, bingo and working with his hands. He was loved and admired by all who knew him.
