

Monsignor Liam Patrick Brosnan was born on March 2, 1934 in Killarney, Ireland and saw the face of Jesus on December 6, 2017. He is survived by his sister, Ina Brosnan, nephews, and nieces of Killarney, Ireland, and many friends and parishioners in San Antonio, Texas and Killarney, Ireland. He was preceded in death by his parents, Susan and Jeremiah, his brothers, Tom and Dermot Noel and his sister, Phyllis.
He was ordained a Catholic Priest at St. John's Seminary in Waterford, Ireland on, June 14, 1959. He came to the United states in September 1959 to serve with the Archdiocese of San Antonio. His first assignment was at St. Benedicts Catholic Church from 1959 until 1967, as Associate Pastor. Over the years he served as a Special Chaplain to Robert B. Green Hospital, a Vocations Moderator at Southeast Quadrant, he was an Associate Pastor at Sacred Heart Church, Floresville, Texas, a CYO Moderator, with the Floresville Deanery, a Procurator-Advocate and Notary at the Metropolitan Tribunal, he was a Chaplain to Brothers and Students and Head of the Religion Department at Antonian High School. He served as an Associate Pastor at St. James Catholic Church, and a Vicar Substitute at Blessed Sacrament in Poth, Texas. He also served as an Associate Pastor at Our Lady of Grace, and was the Chaplain at St. Joseph's Convent at Incarnate Word College. Monsignor Brosnan served as a Northeast Quadrant at the Priests Senate, and a Priest Representative of the Council Administration. In 1986, he became the Associate Pastor at St. Pius X Catholic Church, and in June of 1989 he became the Pastor, until he retired in March of 2004. He was a member of the Cannon Law Society of America, The Canon Law Society of Great Britain and Ireland and the Canadian Canon Law Society.
He spent over 50 happy years in the priesthood. Since his retirement he helped the Communities of St. Pius, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Padua Place, in San Antonio, and St. Mary's Cathedral in Killarney, Ireland, whenever the opportunity arose.
Monsignor Brosnan was a passionate supporter of Kerry Football, and a keen collector of memorabilia. He will be dearly missed by many, but he will live on in the memories of all the people that he helped over his 50 years I the priesthood.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated for Monsignor Brosnan in Killarney, Ireland at, St. Mary's Cathedral, on December 9, 2017.
A Memorial Mass for the soul and life of Monsignor Liam P. Brosnan will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 10:00 a.m.
