Linda Ann Hays

Linda Hays, 77, born Linda Ann Smith in Passaic, NJ in August of 1945, the daughter of John Edward Smith and Josephine Ann (Nawrot) Smith and older sister of Carole Ann Smith. She departed this earthly life on April 9, 2023 and was reunited with her beloved husband, George William (Bill) Hays, in heaven.

After graduating from Hall High School in Little Rock, AR, Linda earned her Bachelor’s in Social Work and Education from the University of Kentucky. She was involved in her sorority, Gamma Phi Beta, serving as President and Philanthropy Chairwoman. Linda met Bill at UK, married in 1967 and raised a son, Kevin and daughter, Lisa.

One of Linda's favorite things was shopping and showering her family with gifts. Linda also loved entertaining, especially hosting fun dinner parties. She loved any reason to get dressed up and go out to shows, events and meals with friends.

For over 20 years, Linda positively affected the lives of children through education. She taught at 9 different schools, including St. Clement in St. Louis, MO and St. Therese in Succasunna, NJ. When the family moved to San Antonio, she enjoyed the role of the librarian at Stower’s Furniture. She was an active member of the Junior League of St. Louis and San Antonio for over 40 years. She, along with Bill, enjoyed their time volunteering at the Assistance League in San Antonio. She was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

Linda and Bill vacationed together all around the world. Their love and devotion continued through 49 years of marriage. Her family finds great comfort that Bill and Linda have finally been reunited after years apart.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister; and husband.

Survivors include son, Kevin (Angie) Hays; daughter, Lisa (Jay) Homburger; four grandchildren: Lucy & Annabelle Hays and Hayden & Hudson Homburger.

The memorial funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 1, 2023 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 20523 Huebner Rd.
