Linda Stordy, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on 2/28/2016 after a courageous 4 year battle with ovarian cancer. Originally from London England, Linda had been a resident of San Antonio since 1991.
Linda was an accomplished cook, baker and hostess extraordinaire, who embraced the many cuisines that she experienced with her husband on their travels together. She was known about town as the 'Cookie Lady' or the 'Muffin Lady' as it was rare for her not to show up on your doorstep without some type of treat in her hand. In addition to the culinary arts, Linda enjoyed knitting and sewing. A voracious reader, Linda could also be counted on for many a book recommendation.
Linda held the position of Executive Assistant to the Director at the San Antonio Area Foundation for over a decade. Prior to the Area Foundation, Linda held a number of executive administration positions in unrelated fields in the US and Germany, where her husband was stationed with the United States Air Force. She always left every organization in which she worked in better shape than it was when she arrived.
In addition to her husband of 48 years, Fredrick "Douglas" Stordy, Linda leaves behind a son, Mathew Stordy and his wife Danielle Stordy of Marietta, Georgia, along with their two children, William and Laura. She also leaves behind a daughter, Jenna Caldwell and her husband Jack Caldwell of Piedmont, California and their two children, Ava and Lily. She leaves behind the newest addition to the family, their dog, Charlie.
The family would like to thank Dr. James Wilder and the staff at the South Texas Gynecologic Oncology Center, the Incredible Team assigned to American Medical Direct, as well as the many physicians, nurses and caregivers at the North Central Baptist Hospital, with whose help and dedication over these past 4 years allowed Linda to build a number of lasting memories with her friends and family.
A private celebration for family and friends will be held to commemorate Linda's life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the MD Andersen Cancer Center or the San Antonio Area Foundation. The family members greatly appreciate the many tributes they have received on Linda's behalf.
