
Llewella Goodrich Lusk, passed away, Friday, June 8, 2001 at SW Texas Methodist Hospital. She was born September 9, 1911 in Cleburne, Texas, the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Robert E. Goodrich, Sr. Mrs. Lusk attended Centenary College, SMU, and graduated from Birmingham Southern University where she earned advanced degrees in French, English and Music. Llewella and Leon met at First Methodist Church in Houston, where her father was Pastor and were married in 1938. She was a professor in the Foreign Language Department at Lamar University in Beaumont where she taught French for 11 years. She concentrated on French pronunciation and, enjoyed trips to France where she was accepted as a native. Following their retirement in 1975, they moved to San Antonio and lived at the Inn at Los Patios for 11 years and were currently residing at The Meadows Retirement Community. She will be remembered by her friends and family for her many talents and interests. She was an accomplished musician and accompanied numerous church choirs in several Methodist Churches. The Lusks have been members of Alamo Heights United Methodist Church for the past 26 years. She will be missed by her friends at Paesanos Restaurant where she and Leon dined every Wednesday for the past 25 years. All those who knew her will remember her smile and loving nature. Mrs. Lusk was preceded in death by her brothers, Bishop Robert E. Goodrich, Jr., Baxter D. Goodrich and Wilson Goodrich. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Leon Lusk, employed by Gulf Oil Corp for 40 years; sister, Moye George R. Parish of San Antonio; brother, Duncan Goodrich of Houston, TX; sister-in-law, Thelma Q. Goodrich of Dallas, TX; daughter, Jean Frank Forsythe of Westerville, OH; son, John and fiancée, Trudy Duncan of Las Vegas, NV. In addition, she is survived by grandchildren, Wendy Jim Van Dyk of San Diego, CA; Tracy Forsythe of Lewis Center, OH; Greg. of Cleveland Heights, OH; and great grandson, Nicholas Spencer Van Dyk; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
