

Chief Riley had a remarkable thirty-year Air Force career. His devotion to God and Country were highlighted by his actions during the evacuation of hundreds of Eurasian children and American Civilians from Vietnam and Cambodia to safe haven in the Philippines. Chief Riley was directly responsible for saving their lives from sure death if captured by enemy forces.
After Air Force retirement, and always up for a challenge, Lloyd continued his tradition of leadership and mentoring by teaching history at the alternative school in the Edgewood School District. While at Edgewood, Lloyd was selected Outstanding Teacher of the Year in 1988.
This kind and gentle man was a loving husband to his wife Diana. He was a wonderful father to his daughter Denise and her husband Bill, a doting grandfather to his granddaughter Allison, and a loving mentor to his nephew, Roland.
By the time you have read this, Lloyd has made his Heavenly rounds and visited with his parents Stephen and Louise Riley, brother Joe, Brothers in-law James Minderhout and Roland Ruiz Sr. Father and Mother in-law Dan and Sonia Ruiz.
Still wishing he were with us today is Lloyd's wife (of 57years) Diana, daughter Denise, son in law Bill Grozdanich of Helotes, TX, granddaughter Allison Grozdanich, nephew Roland Ruiz and wife Dee Dee of Bulverde, TX brother Leo Riley and wife Mickey of Casper, WY, 3 sisters Betty Olivier and husband Leland of Arnaudville, LA, Leola Minderhout of Arnaudville, LA and Cheryl Meche and husband Ernest of Zachary, LA a host of cousins, nieces and nephew and many friends too many to mention.
This great Man will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Remember Lloyd as a rare breed. A strong, powerful man whose love and caring knew no limit.
On behalf of the family we would like to thank all of the medical staff at St. Luke's Hospital and Vitas Hospice who treated him with love and respect.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday June 27, 2016 at Porter Loring Mortuary North located at 2102 N Loop 1604 E, San Antonio Texas 78232 followed by a Rosary at 7:00pm.
A Procession from Porter Loring Mortuary North will leave Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be said at 11:30 a.m. at St. Helena's Catholic Church, 14714 Edgemont St, San Antonio, TX 78247 with a burial to follow at Fort Sam Houston Cemetery.
