

Lloyd Winston Towers Sr. was born January 21, 1919 in San Antonio, Texas. He was the son of Richard G. Towers Sr. and Olga Marie Pauline Hoffman and the grandson of George Edwin Towers and Alvina Loep Towers, also Wilhem Gustave Von Hoffman and Abbertine Barr of Schteen, Germany.
He was a graduate of Brackenridge High School, class of 1938. His early years were spent in San Antonio, Texas.
He entered active military Service February 8, 1942 and retired June 21, 1976, a total of 37 years active and reserve service. He was awarded a Purple Heart, Good Conduct medal, American and Mediterranean Europe Campaign Medals, Bronze Star, World War II Victory Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Hour Glass Device, National Defense Service Medal with 1 bronze star, State of Texas Service Medal, Meritorious Service Award, Order of Liberated France Medal.
He was also employed by Texaco, Inc. for 30 years. He was a member of Northwood Presbyterian Church for over 47 years serving as a Deacon and an Elder.
His Fraternal interests were based in Free Masonry, a member of Perfect Union Lodge #10 for over 65 years. He served as Worshipful Master 1983 1984. He was also a member of the Valley of San Antonio for over 25 years, a 32 degree, Knight Commander Court of Honour.
He held a dual membership in the Texas Lodge of Research A.F.A.M., and was a charter member of Tranquility Lodge #2000 and a charter member of Galilee #31 under the jurisdiction of the Grand Lodge of the State of Israel. He was a member of the High Twelve, National Sojourners chapter #17, Ft. Sam Heroes of 76, and the Sam Houston Hall of Fame.
He was also a member of the Military Order of the World Wars, The Association of the United States Army, and the Reserve Officers Association of the U.S.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 54 years, Birdella Edith McClain Towers.
He is survived by his children: Ellen Kinney Duane of Lancaster, California; Bette Clifford Terry of Comfort, Texas; Lloyd W. Towers II Kathy of Corpus Christi, Texas; and Diane Roth of Pflugerville, Texas. He is also survived by his 9 grandchildren: Matthew and Chris Kinney Carol, Dan and Tom Clifford, Emily Breclaw Derrick, Hillary Shenkle Bob, Lloyd W. Towers III, Julie and Jenny Roth, and 4 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday, February 15th from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Porter Loring on McCullough.
