Loretta Ellen Kem

Loretta Ellen Kem, 70, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, November 15, 2013. She was born August 04, 1943, in Puyallup, WA to Joseph B. Kem and Edith Jane Warner. She graduated from Evans High School in 1961 and moved to El Paso, TX with only a few dollars in her pocket. She began working behind a sewing machine at the Apparel manufacturer, Farah Inc., where she learned to become fluent in Spanish, learned the trade of the business, built key relationships and became an entrepreneur. She was widowed at a young age and raised her children as a single, self-employed mother.

In 2003, she moved to San Antonio, TX where she was inspired by the love of her Schnauzers, Buddy and Jake, to create her own Pet Product line. In addition, she worked for Praxis Management for the past 8 years, which allowed her the opportunity to partake in her favorite hobby of photography while working. She traveled all over Texas and Oklahoma and captured incredible photography of places she passed and people she met. Her passions were Old Windmills, Barns, the Hill Country, the Ocean and Sunsets.

She was diagnosed with severe Rheumatoid Arthritis 10 years ago but she never let her health issues keep her from enjoying life to the fullest. She carried on through life with strength, dignity and grace. She was a member of Calvary Chapel of San Antonio and she loved the Lord. She loved her family. She loved her friends. She knew no strangers and touched countless lives, and now her undying faith has become sight.

She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Morales of El Paso, TX, and Patricia Chavez Villarreal of San Antonio, TX; her twin sons Joseph C. Chavez of Ft. Riley, KS and John C. Chavez (John Boy) of Tucson, AZ; her grandchildren, Ariana, Justin, Jacob, Isabel, Clarisa and Austin.

A private memorial service will be held by her family at a future date to spread her ashes and fulfill her wishes. Her family will welcome guests to celebrate her life at the home she shared with her daughter, Saturday, November 23rd, 2013 from 4-7pm.
