With heavy hearts and steadfast faith, we announce that Lorie Ximenez Gallegos was called home to be with the Lord on February 2, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. After a courageous five-year battle with cancer, Lorie is now healed, restored, and resting in the presence of Jesus Christ.
Lorie was born on September 28, 1975, in San Antonio, Texas, to Hasinto N. Ximenez and Dolores Peña Ximenez. Lorie was truly one of a kind. She was a devoted wife, beloved baby sister, sister-in-law, daughter, cousin, favorite aunt, and friend. Above all, she was a woman of grace and a faithful servant of God. Lorie lived her life with purpose, compassion, and unwavering faith, always putting others before herself. She was a natural-born leader—a VBS warrior, chaplain, teacher, and missionary at heart. Lorie had a rare gift for making people feel seen, valued, and deeply loved. She was always ready to listen, to pray, and to offer a shoulder to cry on. Her joyful spirit, warm laughter, and charismatic presence drew people to her wherever she went. Lorie loved comedy movies, laughter, and creating moments that brought people together. “No” was never in her vocabulary—only “How do we get it done?” Though she was the youngest, she often stepped into leadership with strength and wisdom beyond her years, especially within her family and ministry.
She served faithfully in ministry and community outreach, pouring her heart into God’s work and caring deeply for those in need. Even through illness, Lorie never stopped loving, serving, or trusting God.
Lorie is survived by her loving husband of over ten years, Fernando Gallegos; Stepson Fernando Gallegos Jr; Mother-In-law Bernice Lopez; Brother-In-law Joe Anthony (Tina); Brother In-law Vince Lopez (Michelle), Sister-In-law Diana Casillas; siblings Rose Ann Rodriguez (Edward), John Anthony Ximenez (Mary), Elizabeth Charo (Baldemar), Maria Charo, and Teresa Ximenez Garcia; and her cherished grandchild, Laura Lizette Gallegos. She is also lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews: John Ximenez Jr., James Ximenez (Ashley), Justin Charo, Jeremy Charo (Raven), Christen Espinoza (Michael), Stephanie (Breanna), Katherine Charo, Destiny Charo, Joshua Charo, Jacob Charo, and Lexi Charo; as well as her great-nieces and nephews Jeremiah Charo, Tyson Paten, Princess Paten, Emma Espinoza, Liam Charo, Charlotte Dolores Espinoza.
Lorie’s legacy of faith, love, service, and joy will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
