Louanne was born in Terre Haute, IN in 1934 to Earl Matheny and Mary Armstrong. She moved with her family to San Antonio at the age of five. The youngest of eight kids, Louanne grew up in a tight knit, loving family. She had a love for horses, piano, tap dance and ballet.
While her brothers were serving during the war, Louanne and her dance school traveled to local military bases and performed tap dance and ballet for the troops, while her mother played piano. Louanne continued dancing through her graduation from St. Gerard’s Catholic School in 1952.
In 1954, Louanne met Manks King on a blind date. A year later they were married in June 1955. Louanne and Manks raised their children in San Antonio and spent the years with family events and memorable road trips. In 1981 Louanne became “Meamaw”, which was a name not only known by her eight grandchildren, but by countless others over the years whose lives were touched by knowing her.
Louanne and Manks moved to Canyon Lake in 1996, where she lived for her remaining 28 years. Her home was always open to family, friends, and all of their friends, celebrating many Easters and other occasions over the years.
Louanne is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband, Manks King, and son, Earl King. She was joined by her son-in-law Weldon Parker Jr. shortly after.
Louanne is survived by her loving daughters, Karen Parker & Sandra King (Tim); grandchildren, Russell Parker, Jessica Burger, James King, Kristina Segovia, Ryan Parker, Erica Stinner, Alexandra Daniel, and Jordan Lara; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Louanne’s quick wit and shining smile will always be remembered by everyone that knew her.
