

Louis Ramos Carrasco, Jr, age 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 20, 2022. He was born on December 11, 1929, to Louis R. Carrasco and Dolores Uranga in San Antonio, Texas. Louis was the second youngest of nine children. He learned to be resourceful at an early age working little jobs: shining shoes, breaking down boxes at the local grocery store and running errands earning money to help his family.
Louis attended Sidney Lanier High School where he met his future wife of over 60 years, Leonor. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. While waiting to be deployed, Louis started working for Southern Pacific Railroads. Louis was honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant, serving from 1951 to 1954. The entire time he was deployed, he continued to court Leonor writing letters home and November 21, 1954, they were married. Louis returned working with Southern Pacific Railroads after his time in the Army.An avid gardener, he was often found in the yard, picking up the one leaf out of place, and tending to the numerous plants Leonor loved. Louis was the biggest Dallas Cowboys fan in the family and never missed a game.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Louis R. Carrasco, Sr., and Dolores Uranga; siblings, Tomas, Celestino, Adam, Minerva, Eva, Olivia, Eunice, and Rodolpho; his wife, Leonor M. Carrasco.
Louis is survived by his children, O’Linda King, Mary Helen Snyder and husband, William, Dorothy Gonzalez and husband, George, and Thomas Carrasco and wife, Manuela (Teresa); Grandchildren, Nickolas Valdez, William Lee Snyder, Jr. and wife, Emily, Laura Leonor Galaviz and husband, Aaron, Matthew Ryan Snyder, Theresa Hansen and husband, Brian, Melissa Blanche Davila, Joe Louis Davila, Rachel Rodriguez and husband, Matthew Sanchez, Brianna Scogins and husband, Daniel Christopher Scogins, Jake Thomas Carrasco and wife, Audree and Louis Steven Carrasco; Great-Grandchildren, Trinity Valdez, Serenity Valdez, Marley Galaviz, Liam Everett Apollo Snyder, Lyla Galaviz, Arielle Galaviz, Judah Hansen, Priscilla Hansen, Ember Grace Scogins, Hunter Hansen, Addyson Faith Scogins and Blakelynn Hope Scogins and three more on the way; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and many more extended family members. The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 7, 2022, starting at 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Porter Loring Mortuary on McCullough.
