She was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, but had lived in San Antonio since 1966. She served as a docent for the Institute of Texan Cultures for 28 years.
She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn L. Stapleton of New York City and Janet Stapleton Todd of Oklahoma City and by nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Major General Carl W. Stapleton, USAF (Ret.) and her two sisters.
