

James met the love of his life, Anne Kotelec while attending high school, they married shortly after WWII and were married for 71 years. James graduated from New Ken High School and went on to college while helping his father deliver building products for his father’s trucking company. James enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1942 and completed Navigation training in San Marcos, TX in April 1944. He and his B-17 crew were stationed in Foggia, Italy from August 1944 through December 1944, he was credited with 51 bombing missions in Germany, Austria, Hungary and several other countries. He retired in 1965 attaining the rank of Lt. Colonel while serving as the Commander of the 3569th Navigator Training Squadron at James Connolly AFB. He was proud of his 22 years serving his country, flying over 6,600 hours and 12 various aircraft over his career.
After retiring, he went back to college, earning a degree in Economics at Trinity University in San Antonio, TX. He found his second career as a financial advisor at A.G. Edwards & Sons serving his clients for over 33 years. He retired at the young age of 83.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Veltri; his parents; brothers Raymond Veltri and Geno Veltri, sister, Rose Tallarico; son Mark Jay Veltri. James is survived by daughter, Barbara Stuart; son, Craig Veltri (Linda); son, David Veltri (Pamela); daughter, Anastasia Veltri and son, Steve Veltri (Melinda). He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff and care givers at the Army Residence Community and Heart Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at Porter Loring Mortuary.
