Lynn Marie Starkey

Lynn Marie Horton Starkey passed away peacefully of natural causes on December 27, 2024, in San Antonio, TX, at the age of 77. Born on July 22, 1947, in Oklahoma City, OK, Lynn's life was one of volunteer service to many organizations, a deep love for her family, and a joyous spirit that touched all who knew her.

Lynn's early years in Oklahoma City set the stage for a life of service and leadership. She was a proud member of the Girl Scouts throughout grade school and high school, an organization that would play a significant role in her life. Lynn's passion for scouting continued, as she followed in her mother’s footsteps and guided young girls as a dedicated Girl Scout leader for her daughter’s troop. Lynn then became a professional Girl Scout working for the Tip of Texas Girl Scout council. Then, most recently, she proudly supported and advised her granddaughter as she continued the tradition.

Her work with the Culpeper's Angels of the Confederate (now Commemorative) Air Force showcased Lynn's appreciation for the military and her respect for those who served. She was instrumental in organizing Putnam City High School alumni reunions, where she reunited old friends and rekindled memories of bygone days.

Lynn's love for her family was the cornerstone of her life. She was a devoted mother to Steffani and Steven, and their happiness and well-being were her greatest pride. Her role as a grandmother to Elizabeth, Katherine, Kelsey, Clayton, Ellen, and Victoria, and a great-grandmother to Logan, Liam and Dawson, brought her immeasurable joy. Lynn's family will remember her as a beacon of love and strength, whose legacy of passion and faith will continue to inspire them.

Though she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Perry Starkey, her sister JaneAnn Markham, and her brother William Alexander “Alex” Horton, Lynn's memory is cherished by her daughter Steffani, her son Steven, her nieces Rayvin and Alexis, her nephew Billy, and her adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lynn's interests extended beyond her family and community work. She was actively involved in genealogical research of her family. She had a special place in her heart for animals and cherished the moments spent with her dogs and cats. Her pride in her family's military service was profound, and she held a deep respect for the sacrifices made by service members.

Friends and family will remember Lynn for her passionate nature, and her faith. Her seemingly unending youthful energy was a source of comfort and joy to those around her.

Lynn's life was a testament to the power of dedication and love. She was a woman who lived her values, who led by example, and who left the world a better place through her actions and her spirit. Her absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her, yet her influence will continue to be felt for generations to come.
