
Michael David Fetter, age 88 years, born August 28, 1912 in Crestline, Ohio to David and Appolonia Fetter, died Monday, March 26, 2001. He was a graduate of Capital University, Columbus, Ohio. He entered the Evangelical Lutheran Theological Seminary, Columbus, Ohio and graduated in 1937. He was ordained as a minister of the Christian Gospel in the American Lutheran Church, June 13, 1937 at Martin Luther Church, Columbus, Ohio. He was awarded the Doctor of Divinity degree from Trinity Lutheran Seminary, Columbus, Ohio in 1977. Dr. Fetter served Martin Lutheran Church, Columbus, Ohio, St. Petri Lutheran Church, Toledo, OH, Peace Lutheran Church, Oshkosh, WI, and Salem Lutheran Church, Detroit, MI. He was a consultant in stewardship and evangelism to the United Evangelical Lutheran Church in Australia for the Lutheran Word Federation in 1957-1959, and a member of the American Lutheran Church Stewardship Staff, Minneapolis, MI, 1959-1961. Dr. Fetter was Senior Pastor of Grace Lutheran Church, San Antonio, TX, retiring as Minister Emeritus in 1974. In his retirement he served Highland Park Lutheran Church, San Antonio, TX as visitation pastor until 1993. Pastor Fetter had continuous interest and participation in civic activities: San Antonio Rotary Club, Minister's Association, San Antonio Community of Churches, San Antonio Lutheran Pastor's Conference, Grace Lutheran Hospital Bd., and YMCA. He served as a member of the Board of Regents of Texas Lutheran College University, 1971-1979. Surviving is his wife of 45 years, Shirley; 2 sons, M. David Fetter, Jr. and wife Mary, of Austin, TX, Mark Carl Fetter of Palm Springs, CA; 2 daughters, Elizabeth Ann Skyles of Tulsa, OK, Sarah Joan Allbright of San Antonio, TX; 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren.
