Madelyn Elizabeth Jeffrey, of San Antonio, TX aged 11, passed away in Hunt, TX with her grandparents Penny and Emlyn Jeffrey on July 4, 2025, in the Guadalupe River floods. She gained her angel wings in her favorite place, with some of her favorite people.
Madelyn, affectionately known as Emmy to family and Maddy to friends, was born in Fort Worth, TX on December 2, 2013.
In a word, Emmy was a character. To know her was to love her. She will be remembered by those who knew her for her intelligence, boldness, inquisitiveness, spunk, vivaciousness, bigheartedness, and most of all her laughter. She was beautiful both inside and out. She was a proud, exuberant, and loving big sister. She was quick to make friends and was never afraid to walk up, introduce herself and ask questions no matter what the person’s age or position in life. Emmy excelled both in school and her extracurricular pursuits. A recent graduate of Bulverde Creek Elementary, she was an avid reader, a straight A student, and was involved in afterschool patrols, choir, robotics and chess clubs.
Outside of school, Emmy was a budding soccer star. She was active in church, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and Wednesday Night Kids. She spent her summers traveling with family across the U.S. and beyond, attending Camp Honey Creek and Camp T Bar M, and visiting the family ranch and the cabin on the river. These places fostered her love for outdoor activities, including horseback riding, archery, swimming, kayaking, hunting, fishing, target shooting, and learning to drive. She loved animals and dreamed of one day becoming a veterinarian.
Emmy is survived by her devoted and loving parents Alicia and Harry Baker, little sister Annie, great-grandmother, aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family.
Proverbs 3:5 states “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” There is solace in knowing that she was called home to be with our Lord and Savior. While we may mourn her passing, we know she is looking down on us with her big, beautiful smile and – as patiently as she can – is waiting with open arms to embrace those she loved once again. Although she will be missed immensely, she will never be forgotten. A joint memorial service for Emmy and her grandparents will be held at San Pedro Presbyterian Church, Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.
Emmy’s life will be celebrated at a reception immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to the Jeffrey Family Memorial Foundation Fund through the San Antonio Area Foundation, in support of the family’s philanthropic contributions.
