'Though we were separated by a lot of miles and years since graduating Ahoskie HS I feel a closeness to Dewey. I am a retired Naval Aviator so know where he was coming from. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing and talking to Dewey at our 50th high school reunion in June and know that he will be sorely missed.

'Hi cuzzes...I was finally able to get on here. Adam my son got me here. Pretty pitiful huh? computer illiterate thats me. It seems all Ive done lately is reminisce of all of us as kids. I feel like my childhood is dying all around me. Instead of us being the kids we're now "our mom and dads". I wish we could all get together atleast once a year so our children would have the blessed and beautiful memories we have. Wow there are so many I don't have room to type them all, but I KNOW all of you remember them too. Your dad was so precious to me as a child and as an adult. Why do we wait for something like this to make us wish we had called, e-mailed or something? I've got absolute peace that Uncle Dewey is with Jesus, Mama and Daddy, and Nana Bernice and Papa Dewey and many many more. There's so many people There now I can't wait to get there myself! Talk about a family reunion? That will be AWESOME!!!! Back where I said we're our mom and dad...IF I could be 1/2 the parent my parents were I would be happy. I fall so short of them it's not funny. I'm kicking myself and I always will for not going to Texas. When Adam typed my e-mail address I couldnt believe the similarity of my name and where he lived. Katy. Katy is actually my cats name and birthday.haha When you think of your dad try to smile, because I know for a fact he is safe, happy, healthy and giving Jesus a "fit" flying those loud jets. No really guys do know he is safe with the Lord because I know he is because the Lord gave me COMPLETE AND TOTAL peace when I asked Him.I don't know how much room I have left to type so I better close now. Adam long b4 me said he was out of room...I don't know why I had so much. Maybe the Lord gave me more because He knows I've got a big mouth when it comes to talking.HAHA Well I love each and everyone Aunt LaVerne, Michael, David, Shannon and Maureen "Mo" remember from years ago.I do wish I was there so very very much. 'Dewey was a very special friend who's company and companionship I enjoyed very much. 
He loved nature, particularly tropical plants and trees and good food! In fact I took the color photo that is posted on this website when Dewey visited me here in Floria at Fairchild Gardens! 
I know that Dewey cared very deeply for his family and cherished his friends. As most who read this know, he loved maintaining his relationships with his squadron buddies and high school friends and was so grateful for the help he received while he was ill. He will be sorely missed.'

'I knew Dewey from my Directorship at HAL-PC in Houston. He gave me a type of cactus some years back and it has had several batches of children and grandchildren. A plant given by someone is a great tribute. A schefflera from my mother-in-laws funeral 6 years ago is now a large tree. A great memoriam. I treasure the cactus Dewey gave me and his friendship. My love to all his family.
