Manuel M. “Manny” Martinez Jr. of San Antonio, TX, age 84 entered into the rest of his Lord on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. Manny was a loving husband and father, and an outstanding brother and son. He was a blessing to all who knew him, and he was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and a retiree of the Union Pacific Railroad. Manny was a faithful member of Cornerstone Church and dedicated his time and service as a cell leader, area director, part of the hospital ministry and he led the communion ministry from 1983 to 2020. He will be remembered for his caring loving heart, compassionate nature, and his unshakeable faith in Jesus. Manny was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Esther F. Martinez, his parents Manuel M. Martinez Sr., and Hortence Martinez, and brother-in-law Anthony White, and sister Carmen Bazan and husband Frank. He is survived by his sons, Manny Martinez III, and Russell C. Martinez, sisters Mary Sue White, Martha Casares and husband Robert, Virginia Janavaras and husband Robert, brothers Rudy Martinez and wife Sylvia, and Peter Martinez and wife Lizzy. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Sandra Cox and husband Kenneth, Diane Alvarado and husband Roland, and brothers-in-law Lee Robles II and wife Chayo, Daniel Robles, and Samuel Robles as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at 6:00 PM at Porter Loring Mortuary North (2102 N Loop 1604 E. San Antonio, TX 78232), followed by a prayer service at 7:00 PM
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 12:00 PM at the Cornerstone Vada Hagee Prayer Chapel (18755 Stone Oak Pkwy San Antonio, TX 78258), with interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery (1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd. San Antonio, TX 78209). Following the services, you are invited to join the family for a reception at Cornerstone Church, with details to be given at the time of the service.
