

Margaret Denman Terrell Brown a life-long resident of San Antonio, daughter of Dick O. Terrell and Flossie Denman Terrell, born on Cinco de Mayo 1916, died Friday, October 25th, 2002 of a stroke. Margaret was an exceptional and loving mother, and a woman of deep and abiding faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Judge Archie S. Brown, son Arch, daughter Dianne, and sisters Eleanor Vaughn and Katherine Rink Feagin. She is survived by her son Dick Terrell Brown, of Austin, daughters Anne Brown Graves of San Antonio and Julie Brown Cosgrove of Austin; grandchildren Melissa Brown Suntych, Elizabeth Crutchfield Okamura, and James Terrell Cosgrove; great granddaughter Leah Elizabeth Okamura; sons-in law Jerry Cosgrove and Ken Graves; a large extended family, and many close friends. Margaret was a member of the first graduating class of Thomas Jefferson High School, graduated in 1937 with a degree in Education from the University of Texas at Austin where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority, and was a Duchess in the Order of the Alamo's 1938 Court of the Italian Renaissance. After rearing her children, Margaret earned Certification in Speech Pathology and taught in the Northeast Independent School District. Upon retiring, she volunteered for many years at Santa Rosa Children's Hospital. Very active in the local and Hunt, Texas communities, Margaret was a member of the Ladies of the Red Plume, Battle of Flowers Association, Junior League of San Antonio, Timely Topics, San Antonio Country Club, San Antonio Museum of Art, the Wednesday Morning Bible Study at Bishop Jones Center, St. Mark's Episcopal Church and Hunt United Methodist Church. At St. Mark's, she served on the Altar Guild, as Mistress of the Brides, as a Lay Eucharist Minister, as a Lay Reader, in The Women of St. Mark's, and in many outreach programs. She found a special ministry in comforting parents who had lost a child. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the church or charity of your choice
