

Margaret Ella Dietz Rabenaldt was born September 5, 1924 in Kingsville, Texas, the seventh of eight children of Clara Moellendorf and Theodore Jacob Dietz. In 1939 the family moved to Fredericksburg, Texas, where she attended her final years of high school, graduating in 1942. During World War II, with many nurses serving the war effort, she entered Santa Rosa Nursing School and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1945. After graduation she worked as a surgical nurse assisting Dr. Ross. Then she worked for Dr. S.W. Allen for several years. In 1966 she became a school nurse for San Antonio Independent School District, working at Longfellow and Whittier Junior Highs as well as several elementary schools until her retirement in 1983. During the summers she worked for Drs. Schauer and Hill while relieving their nurses during vacations.
Margaret met Wallace Rabenaldt through friends and they married on June 25, 1950 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in San Antonio, Texas. Their marriage was blessed with four sons. At an early age and throughout her lifetime she was a committed Christian and set the Christian example of love and service to her husband of 60 years, her sons and their families, her community as nurse, and to her Lord at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. Margaret was called to her eternal home by her Lord and Savior on Monday, February 22, 2016 at the age of 91 years.
Margaret is survived by four sons and their families: John and Janice, Paul and Lisa, Kevin, and Dean; grandchildren Audrey and JD Holt, John and Megan Wells, Ethan, Kaitlyn and Garrett Hall, David, Brian and Sean; six great-grandchildren; sister-in-laws Sue Dietz and Allene Helms; brother-in-law Don Helms; and 18 nieces and nephews. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; husband Wallace; granddaughter Lydia Ruth; seven siblings: Edgar Dietz, Elsie Weber, Dora Homeyer, Clara Parker, Edna Dietz, Edwin Dietz and Judy Fischer; and one niece Kae Theilen.
Funeral services will be Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 11:30 am at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church with Rev. Mark Pulliam officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers are John Wells, Ethan Rabenaldt, Garrett Hall, David Rabenaldt, Brian Rabenaldt, Sean Rabenaldt, Ed Lingg and Arthur Treutle. Visitation will be Friday, February 26, 2016 from 5:30 to 8:30 pm at Sunset Funeral Home.
