She taught 9th grade English for 23 years in SAISD first at Cooper Junior High School and later at Lanier High School.
Margaret and Kenneth participated together in many activities. They attended Jefferson United Methodist Church for many years and later Coker UMC. Margaret was actively involved as the band director's wife with parents and students during the years Kenneth served as band director at Jefferson High School, during which time they escorted the band for performances in Washington, DC and Los Angeles, CA. They kept in touch with many of those parents and students for years afterwards. They attended Texas Longhorn football games in Austin for 25 seasons. Traveling to numerous National Parks and other destinations in the US was something they especially enjoyed. In 1992, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a trip to England and Scotland. They both dedicated substantial commitments of time and participation to Woodlawn Optimist Club, Opti-Mrs Auxiliary, and to Optimist International; Sons of the American Revolution; and San Antonio Retired Teachers Association.
Margaret was a life member of AAUW (American Association of University Women); participant in Entre Nous (a social group for wives of SAISD employees); active member of Alpha Delta Kappa (an international honorary organization for women educators); Opti-Mrs. Auxiliary of Woodlawn Optimist Club; San Antonio Retired Teachers Association; Texas Association of Magicians; and Ring 18 - San Antonio chapter of International Brotherhood of Magicians by whom she was awarded the "Order of Merlin Shield" for 35 years of continuous membership. She was also a frequent attendee at lunch gatherings of Lanier retired teachers group, "Silver Foxes."
Margaret developed an interest in performing magic when she assisted her son, Bob, with developing skills in performing magic when he was a young boy. After she retired from teaching, she developed her own skills in performing magic and was in frequent demand as the program for local organizations.
