Born in Corsicana, Texas, on December 19, 1922, Margie or Mimi, as her grandchildren and many friends lovingly called her was a life-long artist whose grace, wisdom and open heart were an example for all who knew her.
Margie is preceded in death by her husband, James R. Jones, Jr., her father, Gilbert George Thorne, Jr. and mother, Margaret Curzon Thorne.
Margie graduated from the University of Texas with a BFA in Fine Art and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. She was a signature member and First Vice President of the Texas Watercolor Society and a member of the San Antonio Watercolor Group.
Survived by daughter Jacquie Jones and her husband Carl Vandervoort of Portland, OR, son Marq Jones and his wife Lynda from Austin; grandchildren: Jenni Crain and her husband Brian, Stephen Killen, Austen Jones and Chelsea Jones; great-grandchildren Nadia and Cyrus Crain; brother, Bert Thorne and his wife Elaine of San Antonio and nephews Brad and Gregg Thorne.
Her friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Reception Friday, November 23rd from 3:30 P.M. to 5:30 P.M. at her home.
