(Devoted and Loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother)
September 06, 1930 to April 28, 2020
Our Mother Margarita Eufemia Ventura was born on September 06, 1930 in Lampazos Nuevo Leon, Mexico. She was the youngest of nine children born to Mariana Mendoza Vasquez and Francisco Samaniego Munoz. Mom and her sisters Pepa, Hermenia, Rosa, Ernestina, and brothers Tomas, Chavel, Francisco, and Demencio, lived in a small and extremely modest home with their loving Mother. They all grew up working hard in all kinds of jobs to help their Mother make ends meet. Through time their Mother began to raise sheep both for food and as a means to barter for other essential needs. Before one knew, they had raised a substantial herd.
Shortly after World War II Mom departed Lampazos to work on a ranch just outside of Laredo, Texas. It is here she met Our Father, Jose Guadalupe Ventura. On July 12, 1950 while now living in San Antonio, they married at Saint Augusta Catholic Church. On June 22, 1951, Jose Guadalupe Ventura Jr, first of their nine children was born. Mary (May She Rest in Peace) was born on October 29, 1952, followed by Martha on October 29, 1954, then it was Dagoberto Ventura August 09, 1956, then our baby sister Margaret on September 03, 1958, another brother, George on February 04, 1960, then brother Marco on June 05, 1962, our brother Ruben on May 07 1965 (“Dallas Cowboys”), finally the baby of the Family, Gerardo, born on April 30, 1971. Our Mother, without ever complaining, gave of herself each day until the last. While our Father worked hard to bring food and necessities to the houshold, our Mother made sure the money he earned and brought home was always carefully used for our needs. She sacrificed her wants and wishes to ensure our happiness. She did it with true love.
Years later Mom decided she could now go work outside her home. She got a job working in the Edgewood Independent School District, as a cook in a school cafeteria. She loved it. There she worked just as hard and diligently as she did at home. In 1985 our Father, who had been fighting cancer since 1979, began to progressively get worse. On May 21, 1985, he finally lost the battle and passed on. Our Mother cared for him, again without ever complaining, until his last day. For the next 35 years, Mom devoted her time caring for our younger brother Gerardo until he married and left home, maintaining the house, and loving her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and even a couple of great great children. She never asked of us, in many cases she helped us both financially and emotionally. Mom was the rock, a beacon of hope. We all knew that if ever we were without shelter, she would welcome us with open arms into the house where we grew up in.
Our Mother, Margarita Eufemia Ventura, enjoyed life because she got to spend time with her nine children, 22 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Mom knew the birthdays of the grandchildren, all of the great grandchildren, and the two great great grandchildren. She didn't have much money but she made sure to give each of them a birthday card with some cash. She was loved and adored by all who knew her. She was always ready to offer anyone who came to the house, a taco, rice and beans, some tortillas, and yes a glass of water. She gave donations to the Church, to St Judes Children's Hospital, and to the Disabled Veterans of America. One of her final wishes was for me to send to St Jude's a final donation. She stressed on me that I had to do this. Yes, this was Mom, others first then, maybe, herself. Thank you Mom. You now get to Rest in Peace. Please know because of your Love We your children are one Family, We your children will never forget how you sacrificed for us, We your children will never forget you were always there for us.
LOVE YOU MOM!
Your sons and daughters; Lupe, Mary (Rest in Peace), Marta, Dago, Mage, Jorge, Marco, Ruben, Gerardo
