Margene Martin Temple, b.12-21-20 in Sarepta, La. died 1-7-14 at the age of 93 in San Antonio, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents Gent Warren "Bud" Martin and Lillie Denmon Martin, her husband James Howard Temple, her brother Donald Aaron Martin, and her sister Clara Martin White.
Mama worked for the International Paper Co. during WWII and eloped with my dad in 1946. She worked as a bookkeeper for a dress shop and as a secretary for American Hospital & Life and Minnesota Mutual Life Ins. Cos. (where she made life-long friends). After she retired, she volunteered as one of the Library Ladies at Manor Baptist Church until it closed.
She travelled throughout the United States and also to the Holy Land, Europe, and Northern Africa. She loved to read and do crosswords, and enjoyed playing dominoes with "the girls" for many years. She was very independent, healthy all her life until the age of 92, and was one of the smartest, sweetest, and most honest people I ever knew.
She is survived by one aunt and one uncle, nieces, nephews, many cousins, many cats, and by her daughter, Marla Jean Temple.
Many thanks to everyone at Alamo Hospice and at Griswold Home Care and to all the many friends and neighbors who helped us get through this difficult time.
Memorial Service in Cotton Valley, La. at a future date.
