Margie Irene Hall Norman went to be with Lord Jesus on August 12, 2025. Margie was born at home on a farm near Nixon, Texas on January 24, 1930 to Alexander E Hall and Alta Patricia Childress Hall. Her brother Alexander “Buddy” was born 5 years later. Her birth mother taught her to read, write and do arithmetic at an early age and Margie did well in school. Her parents divorced when she was 5 ½ years old. Her step-mother later gave birth to Margie’s two sisters.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Gene F. Norman and by her oldest son, Dale Alan (Danny) Norman; brother Alexander E Hall, Jr; sister Hattie Opal Hall Bruce; sister Mattie Ellen Hall Lippe; and various nieces and nephews. She is survived by son James Thomas (Jamie) Norman and son Stephen Wayne (Stevie) Norman (and his wife Kim), and by three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Margie had an insatiable thirst for knowledge and pursued her education with passion, first graduating from Nixon High School in 1946 (at age 16). She received a scholarship to Mary Hardin Baylor in Belton, Texas. She majored in art and minored in English and Education. She graduated in 1949 (at age 19). Her childhood dreams had been to be an artist, an author, and a poet. She realized those dreams. She has paintings hanging across the USA, including one at the Teacher Retirement Center in Austin, Texas. She contributed to scripts for the annual “Cheer” presenting the Class President and a comic sketch – both of which won first place. She was also named Editor of the State Counseling & Guidance Journal, serving as an officer for eight years and winning national awards seven times for best professional journals.
Initially she was an elementary classroom teacher, then after receiving her Master’s Degree in Education with a Major in Counseling at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio she became a special education counselor. Her role was as a diagnostician and media specialist. She utilized her skills and expertise to strive for excellence and to share her wisdom. She left an indelible mark on those with whom she worked and those she assisted.
In her professional work, she was listed twice in Who’s Who in Professional Women. She was a member & officer in Delta Kappa Gamma, Iota Chapter (National Teacher’s Organization for Outstanding Teachers).
After her retirement she continued painting, both oils and watercolors. She also continued to write and be published. She was also offered a position with the Thomas Kinkade group due to her artistic talents.
