Maria Teresa Gonzaba

Our beloved mother Maria Teresa Martinez Gonzaba departed this world on June 17, 2003. We were blessed to have the most beautiful, loving, and dedicated mother. She devoted her entire life to her four children, Cynthia Ann, William Thomas, David George and Vincent Gregory Gonzaba.

She will live on in our hearts forever. She was born on November 5, 1934 in Laredo, Texas to Roque and Evelia Martinez. She graduated from Martin High School and St. Mary's School of Nursing in Galveston, Texas.

While in nursing school she met a medical student, William Gonzaba, M.D., her former husband and father of her children. After moving to San Antonio, she spent most of her life passionately pursuing her interests in motherhood and nursing while establishing meaningful life-long friendships.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roque and Evelia and brother Roque Martinez Jr. She is survived by daughter, Cynthia Gonzaba; sons, Dr. William Thomas Gonzaba, wife Dr. Anna Pantusa Gonzaba, George and Edie Gonzaba, and Dr. Vincent Gregory Gonzaba.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Nicolas Morton-Gonzaba, William, Andrew, Christopher, Nicholas, Katherine, Kristel, Gabriella, David George "Georgie," and Alexandria "Lexi" Gonzaba. She also leaves behind brothers, Eddie and wife Laura Martinez, Carlos Martinez, David and wife Sylvia Martinez, Alberto and wife Christina Martinez, and baby sister Sylvia and husband Ruben Olvera.

She will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, sister in law Carmen Gonzaba and daughters.

The children would like to thank all of her wonderful friends for being there during the most recent difficult of times.

We love you and know that she had a special place in her heart for all of you. Also, the family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to all of the medical and

nursing staff of the Metropolitan Methodist ICU and of Select Specialty Hospital for their nurturing care and thoughtful support.
