In addition to her legal career, Maria was a professional musician, known for her performances of traditional Folk music and her original compositions. Her favorite instrument was her 12-string Gibson guitar, and she graced the stages of the Texas Folklife Festival and the Texas Irish Festival numerous times. Her musical talent is immortalized in a CD of her own music, available on Spotify and Pandora. After retirement from the State of Texas, Maria continued to play music, and she also was secretary of the Texas Music Coalition.
