Maria Julia Louviere, 59, a resident of San Antonio, was born on June 4, 1964 to Margarita A. LaFuente and Fernando LaFuente (both deceased). After a heroic fight against breast cancer, Julie gained her angel wings on July 8, 2023.
She is loved and will be dearly missed by her husband, Felton “Chris” Louviere; two daughters Ava Louviere and Alis Louviere; grandson, Malik Louviere Wilkerson; three sisters, Clementina (Jim) Hinojosa Lopez, Margaret (Armando) Ramirez, Alma (Larry) Saenz and numerous nieces and nephews.
Julie was her happiest, making time fly, losing the better part of the day, in her craft room doing something she loved and doing it for the thing she loved: people. Most of the many craft projects she was involved in were converted into loving gestures that she gave to people from her heart. She made extraordinary and exciting bows. They were very detailed using many themes. The kids loved them and she would not accept payment. She spearheaded a blanket making project that donated blankets to chemotherapy patients, the McDonald house and others.
Julie was a pillar of inspiration for all cancer patients she ever encountered. She never hesitated to share her journey and listen when they needed an ear. She would often offer a different perspective or a nugget of hope that wasn’t there before.
When she was not in her craft room or at an appointment, Julie would typically be found shopping. She was an avid shopper and bargain hunter. Julie usually knew who was having a sale and would never pass up an opportunity to go to the outlets. She always knew how to put a great look together on any budget. She rarely left the outlets without stopping at the Great Mountain Chocolate Factory for a candy apple to bring home for later or William and Sonoma for something to elevate her next dish.
Cooking was another way Julie would demonstrate her love and she was amazing at it. She perfected dishes from every cuisine and loved experimenting with different recipes. She often would attend cooking classes to continue her learning and broaden her palate. She enjoyed quizzing her family on what new component she added and if they liked it. There is not one dish that will be missed more than any other.
It was not uncommon for everyone to get the text auto reply that Julie was driving because she was feeling well, she was always on the go and loved a road trip. It did not matter if she was trying a new food spot Ava found or a day trip to Fredericksburg with Alis to find peaches or a random location with one of her sisters to find the next must have purse or shoes. The destination never really mattered, as long as, there was a Buc-ee’s to stop at for a sweet tea.Sweet tea was not the only tea Julie was a fan of; if you had some good ‘tea’(gossip or chisme), she wanted all the details. One of Julie’s many superpowers was being an incredible friend. There was no better person to have in your corner. She always seemed to know when friends needed her support or an extra push. She would believe in you in the moments where it was hard to believe in yourself. She would show up when she was needed, regardless of how she was feeling from treatments, but only if Chris was working. She would put everything and everyone on hold when he was home.
Time with her family was number one and it never had to be anything extravagant. She was perfectly content with watching Hallmark movies with Chris with a snack, baking a new dessert or bread with Alis, watering her plants as Malik and the doggies played in the backyard or sitting at the table with Ava talking about anything and everything. Being Aya (grandma) was one of her favorite titles. There was nothing Malik could ask for that Aya wasn’t willing to make happen, even if that meant making a cardboard body suit with helmet or making arroz con leche at 10 pm, so he could have it the next day. She always made sure that he knew how much she loved him, even if that meant saying yes when Ava said no.
She was our everything, such a force every time she entered the room and the life of every party.
