It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of our beloved Maria Gloriosa Ruff, affectionately known as Gloria. She departed from this world surrounded by love and cherished memories. Gloria was a beacon of love, compassion, and grace, touching the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her. She was a devoted wife, nurturing mother, loyal sister, cherished aunt, beloved daughter, and treasured friend.
Born on October 30, 1938, in the Philippines to Matias and Lucilla Galit (both of whom have preceded her in death), Gloria was the heart and soul of her family. Her unwavering love and devotion to her late husband Willie (Bo) were evident in every aspect of their life together. They were married on July 16, 1970, and their journey took them to various countries with the USAF before settling in San Antonio, TX in 1986. Gloria was a talented cook and a master tailor, specializing in alterations for notable figures in San Antonio, such as the Spurs, and creating beautiful garments and wedding gowns for loved ones. She provided constant support, laughter, and understanding, making her and Willie's life journey one of profound love and companionship.
As a mother, Gloria poured her heart into her children, guiding them with gentleness, wisdom, and boundless affection. Her children were her pride and joy, and she instilled in them the values of kindness, perseverance, and empathy that will forever shape their characters. Gloria is survived by her loving children Christine Ruff-Buckingham, Richard Ruff (Cynthia), Mark Ruff (Heather), Donna Ruff, Louis Ruff (Annie), and Louise Downey (Will).
Gloria held a special place in the hearts of her siblings as a beloved sister. Her presence brought comfort, and she was always ready to lend a listening ear or a helping hand. The memories shared with her will forever be a source of strength and inspiration. Gloria is preceded in death by her brother Delphin Galit and sisters Manuela Teves, Segundena Cerbito, and Soledad Michael. She is survived by Nancy England, Josefina Stone (Bob), and Rosalinda Jackson.
Gloria was not just a friend; she was an amazing aunt to so many including Stacy and Martha Fairbanks and countless others. She served as a sister and a second mother to many as well, including Limentra Amos and Jackie Dunn. She was a pillar of strength and compassion in the lives of those around her. Her friendship was a gift, and her genuine kindness, understanding, and generosity touched the hearts of many.
Though Gloria has physically left us, her radiant smile, loving heart, and gentle spirit will forever remain in our hearts. We find solace in the beautiful memories we shared and take comfort in the knowledge that she has found peace. Let us honor Gloria's memory by embracing the love and compassion she showed us all. May her soul rest eternally, and may we find comfort in the legacy of love she leaves behind.
