She was born in Houston, Texas, on August 17, 1915. Her father moved the family to San Antonio in 1920, where she graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1934.
Maridel was living in Hawaii in the years leading up to World War II where she met her future husband, Randolph. They were married in 1949, and eventually settled in San Antonio.
Mrs. Lockwood was Past President of the Navy Officers Wives Club, was a member of the Ladies of the Thistle and the Ladies of the Ribbon.
She was very social, loved people and was known for her great kindness.
Mrs. Lockwood was preceded in death by her parents, John Alva McFarland and Anna Neal White, her husband, Randolph S.D. Lockwood, brother, Clay McFarland and sisters, Kathryn Weyland and Anna Gay.
Survivors: son, Randolph Lockwood and wife, Nancy James Lockwood; daughters, Anne Lockwood and Victoria Lockwood; grandson, James Montgomery Lockwood.
