Mario M. Martinez

Maj. Mario M. Martinez, 78, passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2012. He was born in Alice, Texas on September 10, 1933 to Manuel and Elisa Loera Martinez. He had a long and distinguished career serving our country as a pilot in the United States Air Force and after retiring he enjoyed a second career with Civil Service. He was preceded in death by his sons; Marcus Martinez, Marcos Martinez and sister, Minerva Whitaker. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Consuelo G. Martinez; son, Mario M. Martinez II; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Martinez; grandchildren, Marcos Martinez II, Anthony Martinez, Vincent Martinez, Manuel Martinez, Amando Martinez, Antonio Martinez and Isaiah Martinez; great grandson, Anthony Martinez Jr.; sisters, Maria Uribe, Margaret Rudnick, Sylvia Martinez; brother, Anthony Martinez and Rebecca Zepeda. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2012 beginning at 6:00 P.M. followed by the Rosary service at 7:00 P.M. at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Rd. The procession will depart the funeral home on Monday, July 16, 2012 at 9:30 A.M. for Mass at 10:00 A.M. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 4222 SW Loop 410.
