Marion Jean Hinkle Hall entered eternal rest on December 7, 2020 at the age of 84. Born in Thomasville, GA to Norman Brantley Hinkle and Ivey Tillotson; she now reunites with her parents and her cherished dog, Springer.
Marion began her secretarial career in the typing pool at Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan. She later became a legal secretary at the Pentagon where she met her beloved husband of fifty six years, Retired Commander Harry Hall Jr. USN. So began her life as a supportive military wife smoothly transitioning her family from one tour of duty to the next, while fostering life-long friendships at each military base. Marion raised three children: Winn, Margaret, and Harry Lee Jr. She was an accomplished musician, having competed in piano recitals throughout the state of Georgia at the young age of nine and continuing to play throughout her life. With her love of music, came her love for musicals, in particular Phantom of the Opera. In addition to her musical talents, she was a masterful culinarian, cooking wonderful southern dishes as well as fresh seafood her husband would catch. Self-taught at knitting and needlework, she made sure all of her grandchildren received a hand knitted sweater, blanket, or cap upon arrival home from the hospital, her love and creativity woven into each item. Also a voracious reader, she enjoyed authors M.F.K. Fisher and John Updike.
Marion held a special place in her heart for animals and loved all of the pets in the Hall home. She will be remembered most for making the lives of her children and grandchildren magical. Whether it was dying eggs for Easter, making sponge candy during the holidays, or dancing and singing together to the Jersey Boys soundtrack, she lived life with laughter, joy and curiosity. Marion's compassion and unconditional love for her family and friends will always be remembered. A kind and loving person, she was always available to offer comfort and support in times of need.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories Harry Lee Hall II, loving husband of fifty six years, children: Winn K. Jaimes, Margaret (Clark) McDaniel, Harry Lee III (Lori) Hall; grandchildren: Ivey Louise McDaniel, Jennifer Lynn Jaimes, Grace Mirabelle McDaniel, Harrison Lee Hall, Nicholas Chase Hall; siblings, Jan Doyle and Richard Norman.
The family will be receiving guests at the funeral home on Friday, December 18, 2020 at 7:30 AM with a Celebration of Her life at 8:00 AM. Interment will follow in Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at 9:30 AM.
