Born to Rob and Karen Anderson in San Antonio, Texas on September 25, 1992, Marissa graduated from Ronald Reagan High School in 2011. In 2015 she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a certification in Special Education from Texas State University. She served as a Special Education teacher first at Stone Oak Elementary School and then at Dellview Elementary School in the Northeast Independent School District.
Marissa married John Banton on June 20, 2015.
Marissa had been a member of the Northside Church of Christ for most of her life. She was especially interested in foreign missions. In 2013, along with her father and mother, she traveled to Guatemala to dig a water well with Living Water International. In 2014 she traveled by herself to Burkina Faso in western Africa to minister to vulnerable children with Sheltering Wings Missions. She helped Living Water International with another well in Kenya in eastern Africa in 2017. This July, Marissa's father Rob, along with Marrisa's uncle and cousin will travel to Honduras to dig a water well that will be dedicated to her memory. The well will be fully funded by the Northside Church of Christ.
Marissa lived a life full of energy and happiness. Her fondest desire was to make a difference in the lives of the people she loved.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to "The Northside Church of Christ," earmarked for the Sao Luis Mission Team or Sheltering Wings.
