Marjorie Louise Hearn, beloved mom and grandmother passed away while surrounded by family on September 5, 2021 at age 99.
Marjorie was born on July 22, 1922 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Bertha Jackson, sisters Betty Huff and Marion Jean Garrison, and husband Jimmie D. Hearn Sr.
Marjorie was a loving mother to sons Gregory Hearn (Kristen Hearn) of Scottsdale, Arizona and Jimmie D. Hearn Jr. (Lori Hearn) of San Antonio, Texas. She has two grandchildren, Rachel Hearn and Gregory Hearn Jr.
Marjorie was a 1941 graduate of Murphy High School in Mobile, Alabama. Over the years she worked for the Mobile Public Library, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Northside Independent School District, the Audie Murphy VA Hospital, the San Antonio Brewers, and the San Antonio Spurs. All total she had thirty-one years of loyal service with the United States Government.
Marjorie enjoyed being around her friends, family, and pets. She liked meeting new people and her outgoing personality won over many new friends. She took a genuine interest in others and had a kind, trusting heart.
Marjorie was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church for forty-eight years. She loved listening to classical music and opera, being at the beach, and fishing. She was a fan of horse racing and was also accomplished at singing, cooking southern classics, and gardening.
She was passionate about life and was devoted to her family and pets. Marjorie’s legacy of love will live for generations to come.
The family would like to extend our thanks and gratitude to the staff at Brookdale Hospice, her hospice nurse Monica Berlon, and the owners and staff of Serenity Senior Care for their excellent care and compassion.
A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, September 22nd, from 6:00-8:00pm at Porter Loring Mortuary North. A funeral service will be held at St. Andrews Episcopal Church service at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, September 23rd. Burial services will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be given to the San Antonio Humane Society (sahumane.org).
