

Marjorie (Margie) Lee Stille Montag, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully under hospice care in San Antonio, Texas on June 16, 2022. Margie was born in San Antonio, Texas to Jackson Yarborough Stille and Eula Hestor Reed on October 2, 1923. Margie attended the University of Texas at Austin in 1945 but returned to San Antonio in 1946 to work at Fort Sam Houston as a secretary where she met Miller Montag, an officer in the Army whom she married that same year. They lived in San Antonio where they raised 3 sons. Miller was a certified public accountant (CPA) and an officer of the Texas Society of CPA's and Margie was actively involved with the Texas Society of CPA's San Antonio auxiliary for many years. She was also involved in other civic activities, including petitioning the city to build sidewalks in her neighborhood to make it safer for the children to walk to school. She enjoyed classical music and playing the piano, and was an active member of both the Flora Bunda Garden Club and the Tuesday Musical Club. She loved jewelry and started a jewelry business called "Margie's Serendipity" and made jewelry for many years.
Margie and Miller were parishioners of St. Mark's Episcopal Church and they were members of Oak Hills Country Club where Margie enjoyed hosting special family occasions, and she found joy traveling the world with Miller, both overland and by cruise ship.
Margie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Miller Montag; and her father and mother, Jackson and Eula Stille. She is survived by sons, Mark Montag of Houston, Texas, Jeff Montag and his wife Kim of McAllister, Montana, Bruce Montag and his wife Debra of Austin, Texas; and her grand-children, Blake Montag of New York City, New York and Ali Montag of Austin, Texas.
A Service will be held at St Mark's Episcopal Church in San Antonio, Texas on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at 10 AM preceding her Interment in the Church Columbarium next to her husband, Miller. Margie's family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to St Mark's Episcopal Church at 315 E. Pecan St., San Antonio, TX 78205.
