Marjorie Louise Schafer

She is survived by her husband, Lieut. Gen. George E. Schafer, former Surgeon General of the United States Air Force; her children, Jeffery Schafer and wife, Charlene of Tucson, Arizona, Ann Johnson of Round Rock, Texas, Gwendolyn Kluthe and husband, Karl of Helotes, Texas and Sally Schuermann and her husband, Jim of Round Rock, Texas; her sister, Wanda Gilbert of Earlham, Iowa; nine loving grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Marge and George were high school sweethearts and married January 1, 1943. They then started their married life in Cincinnati, Ohio where George was in medical school.

Marge was a devoted daughter, wife, and mother, who adored her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.She was truly the heartbeat of the family and was adored by all of them. As an Air Force wife she traveled all over Europe and the continental United States while caring for her four children.

While they were stationed at Brooks Air Force Base she fell in love with the city of San Antonio where they finally returned to enjoy their retired life. She was an avid Spurs fan, painter, and she loved making a home for her family most of all. Our loss is great, she was an awesome, amazing lady and her life was a blessing.
