Just learned of Rev Fowler’s death. He was a wonderful pastor to our family at Temple Baptist in Champaign, IL

I remember Bonnie & the children too. My condolences to you all. Mark was an inspiration to so many.  I look forward to seeing him in heaven someday.

Mark was a sdear friend to me. We spent many hours together in our early years. In many ways we were kindred spirits. Even though I was Catholic and he was Southern Baptist, something clicked the first time we met at Thomas Merton's grave in Gethsemane, KY. He was getting ready to take his first pastorate at Temple Baptist Church in Champaign, IL. Mark preached at our wedding. Though the times we spent together were few they were always uplifting to me. I remember going with him to meet his birth mother in Ropyal Oaks, MI. It was a tough time for him. 
Bonnie, Brittany and Seth. I am at a loss for words. Even though I just found out about his death in 2009. I had just met Mark in San Antonio in October of 2008 while I was there visiting donors for Indiana University. I thiink of you and him often with much love. Know that he will be missed by many. The things I remember most about Mark from our time at Houston Baptist University are his radiant smile and his gentle spirit. He was kind, dedicated, and always willing to go the extra mile. He treated Bonnie like she was the center of his world, which we all knew she was. I am sure that he has touched myriads of lives with his thoughtfulness, love of Christ, and shining example of Christian ethics. May God guide his family through this loss and ease the aching of their hearts.

Bonnie, I am so sad to learn of Mark's death. He was a special man. He led several retreats at Baton Rouge FBC while I was in college. I'm not sure if you remember but I visited your family in your home on a couple of occasions after that - once while in college in San Antonio and once in Boerne shortly after he became pastor there. You were all such good hosts, showing your love and hospitality. I have tried several times to locate him and was unable to do so. It looks like he left Boerne about the time that I moved to Austin with my family. I would have so loved to have reconnected with him then, if I had only known that he was in San Antonio. Although it's been 18 months, you will still be in my prayers. Hold it in your heart that Mark was truly a remarkable person. You were blessed to have spent your life with him. I just found out that Mark had died. He was the pastor at my church in Illinois when I was young and I forever enjoyed his passion and his enthusiasm. His sermons were always intellectually stimulating. He had particularly passionate about the Lord's Supper and the symbolism that it brought to faith. I imagine that he is enjoying his time in heaven. My love and best wishes to Bonnie and the children.

Mark was such a beacon and a bulwark for our son John Jeter during John's illnesses and throughout his life. We are so grateful that he, John, and we, Katherine and Jack, saw Jesus in Mark in each encounter. We pray God's comfort and peace, strength and courage, for all of you in your grief.

My wife, Mary Lou and I only heard about Mark today, 1/12, and were saddened to hear of his death. He was such an inspiration to both of us when he served as Singles Minister at First Baptist in San Antonio, when we both atteneded there as singles. Mark was one of the most dynamic and thoughtful people I have ever known. Our time in college in which we participated in so many activities togetheryearbook, academics, student government, etc. was challenging, soulful and creative. I will miss him so much, even though we have seen each other only a handful of times since my family moved from Texas. We communicated by email mostly, keeping each other updated on our lives. I love him.

Dear Bonnie, Brittany and Seth: Tricia and I arrived home from out of town to a phone call telling us that Mark passed from this life to the next. We are so sorry for your loss. We know that Our Lord will sustain each of you and your extended family through this difficult time. As I look at the family Christmas photo for 2008 I see a very proud husband, father, father in law and grandfather! He loved all of you. He loved all of us. He just loved others, period! See Matt. 22:39 I also see the man who married us on June 22, 1984 at First Baptist Church, San Antonio and his greatest asset and supporter, Bonnie. Mark and Bonnie ministered to Tricia and me so very much at the Singles Department prior to our marriage. While life?s circumstances and miles may have kept us physically apart, the two of them have always been in our hearts. And, Our Lord had a way other than the annual Christmas card of reminding us of both of them. Like the time I walked in to an electronics store in Dallas to buy something and as I was checking out, the young man behind the counter had a ring just like the one Mark wore with the cross on it. I mentioned to him that a friend and the pastor who married me wore one just like it. He said, ?Mark Fowler?? I said, ?Yes.? Neither of us had to say anything else. We grinned, shook our heads, and realized that He only made one Mark C. Fowler. Or, just recently, I was talking to a man here in Rockwall at a coffee shop who said, ?I was at a reunion and Bonnie asked me if I knew you.? I explained to him how the Fowlers walked Tricia and I through getting married, inviting us over to their house at Christmas and generally just loved on us. I remember shopping with Mark one time at the mall off Loop 410 what a trip that was and him buying clothes for Brittany because they were on sale. He would say, ?Patrick, how much do you think this is?? I?d guess wrong of course, and he?d just laugh because I was so low. I was in a panic realizing clothing kids wasn?t going to be cheap, but he just calmly o.k. rapid fire saying it so fast your head would swim that ?you will handle it when the time comes?? or some other sage advice that he always was able to give. He also taught me the diplomacy on that same occasion when he brought the items home for Brittany of how to non answer a child?s direct question when Seth asked Mark ?how come I didn?t get anything?? Mark?s reply to Seth was utterly nonsensical, yet he said it with such conviction and authority that Seth walked away thinking that he had won the lottery. I remember that Mark shared in relation to marriage that ?opposites attract and then they repel.? I have shared that one profound, but true statement with many young people over the years. When Mark did our marital counseling, Tricia reminded me that Mark told us that at times in marriage, we may never understand something about the other person, but we may have to learn to accept it. He was right, of course. Mark?s life impacted countless lives. We count ourselves truly privileged that God in His wisdom allowed Tricia and I to have crossed paths with his. While we are in disbelief that he is physically gone from this life, we trust in the words that the prophet Isaiah wrote that our Lord spoke: ?For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways?? We loved Mark. We love you and will pray for you as you go through this difficult time...

I have just learned today, 1/11, of Mark's untimely death. I am shocked and saddened. Mark was one grade ahead of me in high school. I began at Valley Mills High as a sophomore and also attended his home church. Mark was genuinely warm and welcoming and I have never forgotten that about him. He and his parents were good, kind people that one could look to for guidance and encouragment. 
Bonnie, I remember yours and Mark's wedding. It was so beautiful and the love that permeated the church that day will remain with all of us always.

Mark was one of a kind. The perfect mate for my friend, Bonnie. I remember when they first met--Bonnie said, "God sent me a perfect match--he is an angel." Mark's smile lit up the room. His "fully present" spirit and sincere care for all who needed him was a rare trait. He will be missed by everyone who crossed his path. Earth will be a less bright place without him but Heaven must be filled with joy as they welcome home a "loving soul."

 I met Mark over 13 years ago when I moved to San Antonio and became a Realtor here. He helped me so many times with customers and I had several transactions with him when he was with Scott Felder Homes and again when he came over to McNair Homes. If it were not for him - I'm sure my customers would not have purchased the homes. 
 From time to time, he came to the sales meetings at our Phyllis Browning Company and was always so cheerful and always upbeat. We thoroughly enjoyed each time he came over to be with us. He also sent me "Starbucks" cards from time to time knowing how much I "loved my coffee" and to remember to come over and see his inventory of homes. We talked through the years briefly, and I have never enjoyed talking to someone so much. 
 He was such a great guy and we are all heartbroken.

I have known Mark and his family since 1985 when I began attending First Baptist Church, Boerne. I loved his sermons, and the energy he brought to the Church. He was loved by all who knew him. Mark married my husband, Chick Mueller, and me in 1987. 
Many times I have seen him and Bonnie at the Symphony programs at the Majestic, and his conversations were always full of stories about his family and especially the precious grandchildren. He was so very proud of the accomplishments of Brittany and Seth, so all of his friends kept up with what was going on their lives. I am so sad that he has gone at such a young age. I know that God has work for him to continue in Heaven, and I am certain that he will perform well. 
My sympathy and my prayers for God's peace to you, Bonnie, and to all the family during this traumatic, sudden parting of your precious Mark. 
He will be missed and remembered by all who came in contact with him. I prefer to remember him the last time that Elmer Burnette and I encountered him on the patio at the Gunter, when he warned us about the play we were planning to attend at the Majestic. He told us it was not fit to see and that he had walked out of itSpamALot. We knew he was steering us right, so we went to a movie instead.

As a Realtor I worked with Mark. He was a very caring person with much energy. I very much enjoyed working with him. To Bonnie and all of Mark's family please accept my sincere condolences in your loss.

I saw him for the last time Monday and we hugged and talked about our families. Will think about him for the rest of my life.

I knew Mark when he was at First Baptist Church. He was truly a servant of God and helped those of us who were in the Singles Dept. in so many ways. He will not be forgotten.

So many of my high school and church memories include Mark. I was a couple of years older than he was but he changed things for all of us. When he was a young, already successful minister, Mark and I struggled together over many hours as he sought his place in the service of God. He was highly dedicated to discovering and following God's will for his life when numerous personal and relational challenges presented themselves. Consequently, he understood "the unfailing love of God." Following his love for others, Mark crossed man-made boundaries that limit many of us. There he found God-like creativity and compassion. There he found grace.

Holy Loving Father-God - this was how Mark started his prayers at FBC SA. Mark called me from teaching childrens SS to be a Singles teacher where I eventually met my dear husband. My time under Mark's leadership was inspired, challenging and fun. His precious family was so open to all of us. All of you will always hold a special place in my heart.

Bonnie: It was with great sadness that we learned of Mark's passing - What a wonderful guy!! When he entered a room, he made it brighter. His love of family was always evident. Our hearts are heavier, also, and we want you to know that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

One of the main reasons we built a McNair home in 2006 was because of our salesman - Mark Fowler. His professionalism, knowledge, honesty, wit, and exuberant personality made our home building experience a pleasure. During the past three years, Mark was no longer our salesman, he was truly our friend and neighbor. I had not seen him in a while but he greeted me with that million dollar smile and his genuine interest in how you and your family are doing. I am very sorry to hear about Mark. Mark and I met when we worked together at his start in homesales. I was fond of his energy and enthusiasm with both his coworkers and his customers. What I will miss most is the joy he gave my young daughters when they would visit us. He gave them books, games and made them laugh. Though they are in college, they still mention that periodically to this day. Like myself, they are sad for this loss but at least they have the fond memories of a wonderful person and time.

To Mark, 
You taught me how to soar during our early years together. You taught me about values and goodness and laughter and love. I walked with you as you made your conscious committment to the Lord and loved and admired you all through these 40+ years. You are a dear friend and will remain so until we meet again.

Dear Bonnie, Brittany, Seth and family, The news of Mark's passing has just recently come to my attention. I cannot tell you how deeply saddened I was to hear the news. I have throughout my life praised him to many for the love and deep compassion he demonstrated, especially to one boy who was in desperate need of a father figure. He will always be remembered with great love and highest admiration in my life. I want to assure you of my deepest feelings of sympathy and genuine concern for you on your loss. Bonnie, we love you dearly. Mark was the first friend we made in San Antonio and you both have enriched our lives. We will cherish the Christmas photo. May God's love surround you and keep you safe, you have our love as well.

Bonnie-There is an empty seat at Symphony Concerts now, a warm smile and greeting to all while he strolled the rotunda at the Majestic. Mark enjoys now the most glorious of all music- that of our our Heavenly home. No stage is grander and no orchestra more "symphonic" than what Mark now sees. He must have been greeted by Leroy Yarbrough from First Presbyterian who made his journey on Christmas Day-both with a passion for ministry and for music. You are in our thoughts as the music of your life changes.

Mrs. Fowler, and children, please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of Mark. He was a great gentleman. I met him and Bonnie when I worked at La Hacienda Mex. Mark's vibrant spirit shall be missed by us. And, we know he leaves a vacant spot in so many lives. We believe he has passed from the 'seen' to the 'unseen'. He knows our day-to-day lives but we miss that vital communciation.

We will miss Mark greatly. He was always gracious, patient, kind- but mostly, he was passionate about life and about his family. During our many visits- his eyes would sparkle whenever he talked about his wife, children and grandchildren. His intense passion for his mission work- and his eagerness to help others was apparent. It breaks my heart to drive by the sales office and not see his car parked outside- what a great loss for us all! We are blessed for having known him. Our deepest sympathy and condolences.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this most difficult time. Mark was a very kind man who I am thankful to have had the pleasure of knowing.

Mark made such incredible use of his time here! People were drawn to him because of his shining personality and God's love in him. What an awesome man.

What a loss we have all suffered. It was just last month that I spoke at length with Mark and we visited about his life-long passion of Christian service. 
I will miss the fine service he provided our company on behalf of McNair Homes, but most of all I will miss his smiling face and seeing him walking by the Majestic Theater, always with a warm greeting. My prayers go out to his family and friends.

Bonnie, you and Mark welcomed us to San Antonio so beautifully in 1980. Thank you for opening your home so many times, for looking deep inside people and offering God's hope to them through Christ, for demonstrating sacrificial love and service, for sharing a love of movies, for offering and expecting excellence in everything. Your deliberate crafting of an extended family for yourselves was brilliant and inspiring. You raised two beautiful children who are joys to know. I'll never forget our trip to Florida, when Laurie got the "best baby" she was the only baby! award! You are very special to our family!

It is with great sorrow that we learn of Mark's passing. It's hard to imagine such a dynamic character is gone. His love of life, commitment to the Lord and to his beautiful family inspired us all.

I am so sorry for your loss. Mark was a great man. I can recall sitting in front of his sales office at Country Estates an telling my clients, Mark will sell you a house if we go into his office. He was one of the best!!! Bonnie very few people can say I know how you feel, I lost my husband and best friend 4 days after Christmas 07, so many times I wanted to talk to someone who had been there, so I am here if in the months to come you need to talk.
