Mark Joseph
Mom and Dad have cried a thousand tears for you, Mark Joseph.
You have been longingly awaited in our hearts, minds, and souls.
But your crib lies empty and cold, piercing my soul.
When you are in Mommy's arms, you are so safe and so peaceful.
Her bosom begs to nourish your tiny body.
As I stroke your beautiful face, your blue eyes open briefly.
You wonder, where are my brothers and sisters, who I have heard laughing and playing?
You will be going home son, but not with us.
God has blessed our family, and for that we give praise.
Suddenly, I the father do not have all the answers.
I ask the children, why is the baby dying?
For the children are the wise ones, forever in His presence.
They say Mark is sick and he is weak, and it is time for him to sleep.
"Don't cry baby brother, it's okay."
For all that was hoped forbike rides, birthday parties, adventures, and fun.
It is just too early for me to say goodbye.
To my tiny baby son I say, I love you.
Mark Joseph, we will never stop crying.
Love, Daddy
