Marta Alicia Hernandez

Marta Alicia Hernandez born on July 29, 1929 went to be with the Lord on November 20,2017. She is preceded in death by her parents Apolonio and Juanita Cardenas; siblings Victoria Luster, Maria Inez Torres, Janie Trevino and Oscar Cardenas. She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Celso D. Hernandez; children Veronica Hernandez-Mena (Roy), Hector C. Hernandez, Debra Ann Hernandez, Diana L Baiza (Bobby), Janet B. Macias (Reynaldo); 9 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; siblings Teresa Salas, Laura Martinez, Herminia Grimalda, Sylvia Gomez, Horacio Cardenas and Jorge Cardenas. Marta enjoyed playing volleyball and softball and was in pep squad in her younger years. She loved gardening, dancing, cooking, baking, crafting and working with children and also seamstress work. She worked with children who had learning disabilities. One of the first programs in San Antonio who helped children with disabilities was the Jose Cardenas program, which Marta worked for. The family would like to give a special thanks to the Memory Care Nursing facility of Westover HIlls for all their kindness and work. She will truly be missed by family and friends. The visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00pm at Trevino funeral home at 226 Cupples Rd. The funeral procession will depart the funeral home on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at 9:00am for a 10:00am Mass at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Interment will follow in San Fernando Cemetery II.
