

Marti grew up in the Rio Grande Valley where she graduated Weslaco High School, and attended Pan Am College where she studied to be an English teacher. Her studies were interrupted when she met and married a handsome young Air Force officer with whom she traveled the world and bore three sons. Along the way she learned English, Spanish, and even some German, she loved to dance, and could play any keyboard, and even a saxophone. A devoted wife, housewife, and mother, Marti was also a realtor, and spent a career as a medical transcriptionist, teaching, managing, and specializing in linguistic delineation.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas A. Colton. Marti is survived by her sons, Derek Colton, Craig Colton, and Kent Colton; and sister, Laura Jane Sawyer. She is also survived by many grandchildren and even great grandchildren. She will be ever loved, and ever be missed, as will her beauty, grace, and kindness.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 pm, Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Porter Loring Mortuary.
