

Mrs. Thompson graduated from Huntington Township High School, Indiana in 1961. She attended Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana and St. Phillips College, San Antonio, Texas.
She was a civil service employee at Kelly Air Force Base for 16 years. While her husband was stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany, Martha was employed at the U.S. Air Force Lindsay Air Station library as the children’s librarian and in the Patient Accounting Department at the U.S. Air Force Wiesbaden Hospital. Martha was active in Girl Scouts and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at her church in Wiesbaden, Germany.
She was a member of Northwest Hills United Methodist Church, San Antonio, Texas. She was born March 23, 1943, in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Herman and Elizabeth “Betty” Elett. She married her high school sweetheart, Samuel “Sam” E. Thompson, on January 2, 1963, in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Survivors include her loving husband, Sam Thompson, of San Antonio; a daughter, Julie Thompson, of Houston, Texas; a daughter, Dee Catovic, of Wiesbaden, Germany; a son, Samuel (Lisa) Thompson, Jr., of San Antonio; one sister, Diane (Bill) Sherbahn, of Huntington, Indiana; one brother, William “Bill” Elett, of Lakeland, Florida; four grandchildren, Sean Thompson, Lejla Catovic, Jeremy Thompson and Jordan Thompson.
A memorial service will be held at Northwest Hills United Methodist Church, 7575 Tezel Road San Antonio, Texas 78250 on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. Interment will be at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas, on Monday, August 11, 2014 at 10:00 A.M.
