Martin Epner, 91, a resident of San Antonio for nearly half a century, nd most recently residing in Plano, TX, died suddenly but peacefully on Monday December 27, 2021. He is survived by his wife of more than 67 years, Marcia, as well as by three children, eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. An adult son, Paul, predeceased Mr. Epner in 2007.
Mr. Epner began his career, as a metallurgical engineer, following his receipt of Bachelors and Masters degrees from New York University. His career trajectory was steep and impressive for a working-class son of immigrants, and he rose to serve as the Chief Operating Officer of a Fortune-250 multi-national corporation before leaving the corporate world in 1980, purchasing a struggling company with a great product, and turning it into a highly successful company with a great product.
Following the profitable sale of his business, Mr. Epner "retired" to undertake several important civic and charitable pursuits, among them as the President of the Jewish Family Service of San Antonio, a Board member of the Methodist Hospital system, and (despite his lack of formal legal training) as an Arbitrator focusing on securities and broker/dealer irregularities. He is deeply missed by his family and his surviving friends.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Epners memory may be made to the Jewish Family Service of San Antonio.
